Pennsylvania Real Estate License Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have either a high school diploma or an equivalent education.
  • You must meet the state’s pre-license education requirements.

The path most people take is enrolling with a state-approved real estate school to take 75 hours of classes—30 hours of real estate fundamentals and 45 hours of real estate practice. But there are other options for some prospective agents to meet the education requirement.

  • People who already hold a real estate license in Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts or New York can apply for a reciprocal Pennsylvania license.
  • People who have a bachelor’s degree in real estate or an equivalent course of study also meet the education requirement.
  • Law degree holders also meet the education requirement.
